Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has turned 36 today! The former captain is known for acing his game - on the field and in fitness. So much so that his fitness regime has inspired an entire generation altogether to work towards a healthy lifestyle and not take fitness for granted. Kohli's viral workout videos have motivated many people to get out of bed and hit the gym!
When he was the captain of the Indian cricket team, he ensured that each player work on their fitness. Players like Varun Chakaravarthy and Rahul Tewatia were even dopped from the squad after they failed the fitness test. Under his leadership, fitness was a non-negotiable.
While he is not the captain anymore, there is no change in his fitness journey. Kohli still remains severely disciplined. However, it was not like this for him always. When he first arrived in the scene back in 2008, he did not give much regard to staying fit. Being a big time foodie, he would eat and drink whatever he wanted. It was in 2012, after a very disappointing IPL run, he realised that is he continued the same way, he would not be able to master his craft. Ever since then, it has all been very different for him.
Kohli has often revealed that he has weighed 74.5-75kg for the last eight years. Here are some tips from Virat Kohli's diet and fitness regime that all of us can use.
Steamed Food, No Masala
Virat once revealed that 90% of his food is all steamed, boiled. No masala. Only salt, pepper, and lime. "I am not a big fanatic about the taste of food, I don’t care about the taste. Salads, I enjoy with a bit of dressing. Pan-grilled is good with a bit of olive oil or whatever. No curries - I only eat dal, but no masala curries. I do, however, eat rajma and lobia, as a Punjabi can’t skip them," he explained in a conversation with Star Sports.Plant Based Diet

This change has also been instrumental in boosting his energy levels and reducing inflammation, which is crucial for an athlete.
