However, it is important to give utmost priority to your health needs, so make sure to consume adequate nutrients – vitamins and minerals to maintain a healthy and wholesome lifestyle. However, the deficiency of these nutrients in your diet can be a challenge – leading to deficiencies that show in your body. Signs of nutritional deficiency

There are several signs and symptoms that indicate that your body is devoid of necessary nutrients like protein, vitamins, iron, manganese, copper, etc. all of which are of utmost importance.

Skin

If you suffer from extreme dryness – it is a sign of malnutrition. Doctors say it is important to maintain a nutritious and balanced diet for good skin health. Dry and flaky skin leads to various conditions like psoriasis and eczema, which indicate an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency, as these fats are essential for maintaining the skin's lipid barrier.
And so, you must include oily fish in your diet, along with vitamin A supplements, to prevent rough skin, dry patches and breakouts.

Hair

If you lack vitamins, iron, and zinc, you will be suffering from excessive hair fall and flaky scalp conditions. According to experts, iron helps deliver oxygen to your hair follicles, while zinc helps in tissue growth and repair.
And so, add vitamin A supplements or eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables – especially green leafy ones to get long, soft and silky hair.

Nails

If you have been having brittle and rough nails – for sure it is due to lack of biotin - a vitamin of the B complex involved in the synthesis of fatty acids and glucose. And so, add lots of eggs, seafood, red meat, poultry, and dairy products, along with legumes, mushrooms, and avocados to your daily diet.

Mouth ulcers

Mouth ulcers happen due to loss or erosion of part of the delicate tissue that lines the inside of your mouth. Frequent ulcers - also known as canker sores, can be caused by a lack of Vitamin B or iron. Eat beets and spinach to get over the issue.

Weight loss

Unexplained weight loss happens when you are suffering from malnutrition due to a lack of consuming a nutritious diet – devoid of any protein to produce energy. According to experts, poor and inadequate nutrition leads to extreme fatigue and tiredness – causing weight loss and weakening of the immune system from within, which makes your body more susceptible to infections and reduces the pace of healing of wounds.
