Apple Cider Vinegar For Weight Loss: With the advent of digital media, more and more people are now becoming aware of what they should consume for a healthy living. From shirataki noodles to brown rice cakes, many such food items have been trending on the internet as they support healthy weight loss. Another such thing is the apple cider vinegar (ACV). For the unversed, apple cider vinegar is a form of vinegar that is made from the juice of crushed apples. It is then fermented using yeast and bacteria. After the process of fermentation, acetic acid is added to the liquid to convert the alcohol into vinegar. This vinegar can also be used in different foods and preservatives.
Many people swear by consuming ACV due to its weight loss benefits. Apart from that it is also known to improve heart health and control blood sugar. But what is the right way to consume it? Can it be taken daily? Let's find out.
Many people question the potential risks of ACV if people consume it in larger doses. However, there is very minimum research that examines these effects.
In general, a person should consume or use ACV in moderation.
According to a 2016 review, drinking 15 milliliters or 1 tablespoon of acetic acid daily is usually enough for a person to see potential health benefits. However, the exact dosage depends on the condition that someone wishes to treat. If not taken in the right quantity, ACV can cause skin irritation, tooth enamel erosion, and many more side effects.
Since apple cider vinegar’s acidity is responsible for many of its health benefits, make sure you don't mix it with anything that could neutralize the acid and reduce its positive effects. However, at the same time, keep in mind that this could damage the tooth enamel with regular use. Drinking using a straw and then rinsing your mouth with water is the correct way to prevent this.
While it is mostly associated with health benefits, regularly consuming large amounts can often be dangerous.
According to Healthline, a typical dose is 1-2 tbsp mixed with water and taken before meals of after meals. It is important to note that ACV is relatively safe to consume but in moderation. However, it has not been extensively researched.
